A long ago discussion sparked my curiosity. I always wanted the show to explore what Spike would have been like if he'd lost his soul, even if it was just for an ep. Lots of people think that Angelus was that much more of an evil bastard because he felt the soul dirtied him somehow. I always wondered how Spike would deal with the removal of the guilt. We saw the slow process forward of Spike adjusting to doing good, what would happen if that was stripped from him and he no longer had guilt and he no longer had Buffy to think about as he had moved on...sort of. At least he was no longer following her around post Chosen.

How would the unshackled demon respond to the freedom from the crushing guilt it had to deal with? Would it be like a teenager who no longer had a curfew? They could just go wild or they could behave exactly the same. The writers could have gone a million different directions, but I'll always wonder which one they would have chosen.

Anyone have any stories that deal with this? Prefer Spander but Spuffy is good too.

You might try "Bloody Soul" by Kallysten. It's the first of a four-story series, and quite quite good.
