Hello again. *wave* I got so many great responses for my last search that this was the first place I decided to come to for more recs. :)

Anyway, I'm looking for fics in which Spike shows off/unknowingly reveals his William side to the Scoobies/Joyce/Anyone really. Not fics where he thinks he's William; I'm thinking more like, say, he shows how much knowlege he has of classic literature/poetry, or he wears glasses, or he speaks in his posh Received Pronunciation accent (or all of the above ^^).

Perhaps he pretends to be William to help out a Scooby, make them look good in front of someone else (I read a Spuffy one where Buffy was struggling to keep Dawn after Joyce died, and Spike pretended to be her boyfriend in front of the welfare lady). Or maybe he gets drunk and starts waxing poetic about everything around him. Or he tries to research, can't read properly, and borrows Giles glasses. :)

Any pairing, het or slash, and it doesn't have to be the main part of the story. Thanks in advance!

My Mask and Mirrors fits:

I usually have bits of William show through (his education and skills for one) in my stories but this one I link to has that as part of the whole reason for it and the title.

This kind of story sounds great, I always like when Spike shocks people by reciting a poem or anything. Do you know what story you saw Spike acting as Buffy's boyfriend in front of the welfare lady? I'd really like to read it, and I think I remember some similar fic. Going to try to find it now.

"Nothing to Fear" by Icemink is a good one, though it's pretty late in the story that Spike recites T.S Eliot and we see some of his thoughts.
Also, "Not Just a Spell" by Slaymesoftly is a fantastic story and in it Spike, while definitely Spike, pretends to be William for a lot of the time, glasses and all. I definitely recommend.
